As part of our programme to encourage and develop the work of emerging artists, we invited art students to submit exhibition proposals to showcase their work in The Holy Biscuit.
This year, we selected two proposals to be shown in The Holy Biscuit’s two gallery spaces.
Janice Palmer presented She Is Self, an exhibition featuring installation and wall based work that examined themes of identity through a semi-autobiographical narrative. Janice is a mature student currently in the second year of a BA Hons Fine Art degree at Northumbria University.
Molly Bythell, Aistė Jakonytė, Joy Labinjo and Hannah Nespoli brought together their work in Ladies who
Lunch Paint. Through their individual paintings, they explored the representation of the figure, themes of identity, gender and the relationship of the figure within the space. Molly, Aistė, Joy and Hannah are currently in their final year at Newcastle University studying BA Hons Fine Art
